Trauma Therapy

When the past continues to affect the present

Trauma can affect us in ways we don't always immediately understand.

You may find yourself feeling constantly on edge, overwhelmed by certain situations, disconnected from your emotions or struggling with relationships, confidence or self-worth.

Sometimes you know exactly what has affected you. Other times, you may simply know that something doesn't feel right or that you're repeating patterns you don't understand.

Whatever your experience, you don't have to make sense of everything on your own.

Understanding your response to trauma

My approach is person-centred, grounded in empathy, honesty and respect for your individual experience.

Therapy can provide a safe and confidential space to explore what has happened to you and how it may continue to affect your thoughts, feelings, relationships and sense of safety.

We work at your pace. There is no pressure to talk about anything before you feel ready.

Trauma and the mind and body

Trauma isn't only something we think about. It can also be experienced through the body.

You might notice anxiety, tension, difficulty relaxing, feeling disconnected, becoming easily overwhelmed or finding yourself responding strongly to situations that seem small to others.

I have a particular interest in the connection between mind and body and in understanding how difficult experiences can become embedded in the ways we respond to ourselves and the world around us.

Alongside person-centred therapy, I draw from other approaches and frameworks where appropriate, including Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR.

A space to feel understood

I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can bring your whole experience without judgement.

You don't need to minimise what happened, justify how you feel or have everything figured out before starting therapy.

We can begin with where you are now and gently explore what you need from therapy.

I offer online therapy to clients across the UK, with in-person therapy available in Berkshire.
